Motorola’s VHF (Very High Frequency) radios allow users to communicate wirelessly using two-way radios. Since radios rely on wavelengths to communicate, common electromagnetic interferences can occur and disrupt the radio’s function. Areas where Motorola 2 way radios will not function properly are hospitals and health care facilities as these facilities carry equipment sensitive to the radio frequency energy produced by radios. Other common issues known to occur with Motorola’s two-way radio are battery and volume problems that can disrupt the radio’s functionality.
1 Adjust the volume. If your Motorola radio is working properly but is not producing sound, adjust the volume by pressing and holding the “Scan” button for three seconds while rotating the “Volume” knob to the appropriate volume. Rotate the “Volume” knob clockwise to increase the volume and counter-clockwise to decrease the volume.
2 Configure the radio channel. Motorola’s two-radios contain frequency channels in which radios can communicate. Adjust the radios so that they are both set to the same frequency channel. Press “Menu” and press the “+” or “-” buttons to select a channel to communicate on.
3 Adjust the Interface Eliminator code. If your radio is experiencing transmission issues, select and hold the “Menu” button until the screen flashes a code. Select the “+” or “-” codes to adjust the transmission code. To save, press the “Push to Talk” button to save the new code.
4 Insert new batteries if the device is not properly turning on.
